Sudan & South Sudan TPS Redesignation

On January 9, 2013, DHS announced redesignation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and extension of TPS for existing TPS holder for Sudan and South Sudan. The redesignation and extension allows nationals to hold TPS status from May 3, 2013 through November 2, 2013. Nationals of Sudan and South Sudan must demonstrate they have continuously resided in the United States from January 9, 2013 in order to register for TPS. For those who currently hold TPS, re-registration must occur within the 60 day period of January 9, 2013 through March 11, 2013. Those who do not hold TPS must apply during the six month period starting January 9, 2013 through July 8, 2013.
