USCIS Begins Accepting DACA Requests

On August 15, 2012, USCIS announced it would begin accepting requests under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The program which was announced on June 15, 2012, provides certain individuals who came to the United States as children and met other guidelines the possibility of deferred action. Deferred action is a discretionary determination to defer removal action against an alien. During the period of deferred action, the alien may be granted employment authorization.
