DALLAS, TEXAS — On April 6, 2011, Vishal Chander, Managing Attorney of The Chander Law Firm, participated as a speaker at the annual “Career Night” panel, hosted by the Dallas Asian American Bar Association (DAABA) and the Asian Pacific Interest Section of the Texas State Bar Association (APIS). The program was meant to provide information to law students seeking entry level positions, young attorneys, and lawyers displaced by the job market. Also participating on the panel were Wilson Chu, Partner at K & L Gates, Helen Yu, Senior Corporate Counsel at American Airlines, Caren Lock, Regional VP & Associate GCat TIAA-CREF, Kelly Chen, Associate at Munck Carter, and Clint McDonnell, Director of Sales and Recruiting at Legal Network. The panel was moderated by Albert Tan, Partner at Haynes and Boone. Mr. Chander spoke on strategies for young lawyers to find legal positions in a difficult job market. His comments were well received by the audience. DAABA advocates for the interests of local Asian American attorneys and the greater Asian community. DAABA is one of three minority organizations affiliated with the Dallas Bar Association (DBA). The association also works closely with the APIS of the State Bar of Texas, and is the local chapter of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA). Formed in 1995, APIS was created to be a state-wide umbrella organization to advocate and promote the common professional interests of lawyers of and interested in Asian Pacific American heritage, community, and culture.
