DHS Attempts to Encourage International Students; Launches “Study in the States” Website

On September 16, 2011, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Janet Napolitano, announced a series of initiatives to encourage foreign nationals to study at United States schools. A key component of the initiative is the launch of a “Study in the States” website. The site will provide prospective and current international students information and roadmaps to successfully navigating the international student immigration process.
